Cessna 152 Weight and Balance Calculator

This calculator uses weight and balance data for the 1979 Cessna Model 152. Enter the current basic empty weight and empty arm from the weight and balance record for the individual aircraft.

Cessna 152 weight and balance limits

Maximum takeoff and landing weight is 1,670 lbs. The aft CG limit is 36.5 inches aft of datum at all approved weights.

Between 1,350 and 1,670 lbs, the forward CG limit follows a straight line from 31.0 to 32.65 inches. The calculator determines the forward limit from the loaded aircraft weight.

Cessna 152 fuel capacity

The standard fuel system has 26 US gallons total capacity and 24.5 gallons usable. Full usable standard fuel weighs 147 lbs at 6 lbs per gallon.

Long range tanks hold 39 US gallons total with 37.5 gallons usable. Full usable long range fuel weighs 225 lbs.

Standard and long range tank arms

The two fuel installations do not use the same weight and balance arm. Usable fuel in the standard tanks is located at station 42.0. Usable fuel in the long range tanks is located at station 39.5.

Select the tank installation fitted to the aircraft before entering the fuel quantity. WBcalc changes both the usable fuel limit and fuel arm when the tank selection is changed.

Baggage

Baggage area 1 is located at an arm of 64.0 inches and is limited to 120 lbs. Baggage area 2 is located at an arm of 84.0 inches and is limited to 40 lbs.

The combined load in baggage areas 1 and 2 must not exceed 120 lbs.

Empty weight and arm

The values initially shown in the calculator are taken from the sample loading problem in the POH. They are not the empty weight and arm of every Cessna 152.

Use the current basic empty weight and moment or arm from the aircraft weight and balance record. Changes to radios, paint, interior, repairs and installed equipment can change the aircraft's empty weight and center of gravity.

Cessna 152 standard empty weight

The 1979 POH lists a standard empty weight of 1,109 lbs for the Model 152 and 1,142 lbs for the 152 II. These figures describe standard configurations and should not replace the current weight and balance data for the individual aircraft.

Reference datum

The Cessna 152 reference datum is the front face of the firewall. Loading arms on this page are measured aft of that datum.
